The Minneapolis Real Estate Blog: Sometimes the best Shots come through a Windshield

Sometimes the best Shots come through a Windshield

It's nice being able to drive into downtown Minneapolis on a Monday, late morning, and have the road mostly to yourself. You sure don't see this in any of the other major U.S. cities. I love approaching the city from the south...you get a really great shot of the cityscape.

For a photo I took while downtown, see my other Minneapolis Real Estate Blog.

But please don't take your listing photos through the winshield...one of my peeves.

Nice shots!

Jennifer-

Very nice picture, I wish the traffic here in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia looked more like this!

Amazing what digital cameras can do!

Lee - I actually laughed out loud. There are a couple of foreclosures here in Minneapolis where you can tell the agent didn't even get out of the car to take a photo.

Bryant - I was quite surprised to be so alone on the road...it let me slow down enough to get the shots.

Trey-  they definitely do well through glass

You know Jennifer, in my area were the average sales price is $123,000, I've even seen a $1.2million home were the side mirror was in the shot (main photo).  You just have to shake your head.

So when will we see more instructional videos?

Jennifer, Nice photos.  I enjoyed that little ride, watching the skyline get closer and closer

Lee - I think I am going to have to find time for Part 2 of the video how to I started. I have been quite busy this summer and not blogging as much as I used to, and am now trying to get more in to it again.

We all know how much I hate lazy agents who take bad photos. It really irks me when I see a luxury listing with terrible photos. For God's sake, at least get a wide angle lens!  :)

Bob - glad you enjoyed it...I really liked the part with no traffic!

Love the sky line - should probably NOT admit this, my windshield is usually not clean enough to take photos through!

Debbie - I have been wanting to take this shot for a while, and since the traffic was so low, I saw my opportunity. I had no idea how clear they would come out and just got sorta lucky I guess.

Jennifer, fun topic. You've reminded me of a shot I took when I was first leaning photography (it's not so hot but I still have a lot of fondness for it).

I shot this through a windshield via the autobahn (just fore the record I wasn't driving at the time!).

:)

Cheers, -B

@Bryce ~ That is a sweet shot! It almost looks HDR. Did you shoot it in the RAW and tweak it some?

I have taken a lot of pictures though windows on trips. One bad thing, some windows are dirty from squished bugs and they show up in the pictures!

Great pictures! I hope you weren't driving and taking the picture.

Jennifer, Nice job on the photos.  Enjoyed your post and the shots of Minneapolis.

Ryan, thanks...just a 'regular' exposure. I hadn't a clue what HDR was when I shot this. However, I'm afraid I overprocessed it in my enthusiasm (which is likely why it looks a bit hdr). As I didn't shoot it RAW I can't go back and fix it - but I still like it.

Jennifer, sorry for the hijack. Back to your post! :)
